Two CoBRA jawans injured in Naxal blast in Raipur

Two jawans of an elite anti-Naxal unit were injured when a pressure bomb planted by Maoists exploded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district today, police said.

The incident took place when a contingent of 206 CoBRA unit was carrying out a combing operation in restive forests under Chintagufa police station limits, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI. During the operation, the jawans accidentally stepped on a pressure bomb planted by the extremists, leading it to explode and cause injuries to them, he said.

The injured were identified as Tilak and C J Reddy, both Constables. A helicopter was sent to the spot to retrieve the duo, the officer said, adding they were airlifted to Raipur, about 400 km from Sukma, for treatment.
