Bailable warrant against Anil Ambani in 5-gm gold coin case

A consumer court in Gujarat has issued a bailable warrant against Reliance Capital chief Anil Ambani in a case of alleged over-charging of a five-gram gold coin.

The consumer court comprising President of District Consumer Disputes' Redressal Forum in Surendranagar S K Pandya, members A C Pandya and S A Patel, on January 1, issued the bailable warrant to Anil Ambani directing him to appear before them on January 20 or to pay a sum of Rs 2,000.

"Anil Dhirubhai Ambani stands charged under section 11 (Jurisdiction of the District Forum), section 12 (Manner in which complaint shall be made) and the section 27 (Penalties) of the consumer protection act- 1986," said the order of the court directing him to appear before the court on January 20.


The consumer court further directed, "The said persons (Anil Ambani) shall bail himself with a surety amount of Rs 2,000."
