The Shiv Sena has ruled out supporting the Land Acquisition Ordinance in its present form. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said, "There is no question of supporting any legislation which goes against the interest of farmers."

Earlier, the Shiv Sena skipped the NDA meet saying that the ordinance in its present form was anti-farmer. Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, "We are with the government, but we are with the farmers as well. We want certain points to be reviewed. We've always talked in favour of farmers and we do want economic and industrial development in nation, but this a nation of farmers. If farmers are opposing this ordinance, we must also take into consideration their views."
