8 killed in Czech restaurant shooting, shooter also dead

Nine people, including the gunman, are reported as dead following a fatal shooting in the Czech Republic town of Uhersky Brod. The town is around 300 kilometres south west of Prague. The Czech interior minister Milan Chovanec has confirmed the number of fatalities.

An armed man burst into a restaurant, opening fire, according to Czech state television. The condition of the gunman is unconfirmed, but one police spokesman quoted on the TV said the suspect had "already been subdued".
