Former journalist arrested for leak of classified oil ministry documents

Just in: A former journalist Santanu Saikia, who runs an energy portal, is arrested by the crime branch in connection with leak of classified oil ministry documents to corporates. This is the sixth arrest in the case.

Two officials of the petroleum ministry were among five arrested yesterday for the leak.

The Delhi Police said 25 people have also been detained for questioning, among them officials of several energy companies. A Reliance Industries official said it had been brought to the company's notice that one personnel has been detained.

The confidential information was allegedly shared with corporate houses and had details of policies used for oil exploration, pricing as well as imports. "
