Satara schools ordered to celebrate V-Day as Mother's Day

In a bizarre move, education officials in Satara district have directed all schools and colleges to celebrate Valentine's Day Saturday as Mothers Day and sing poems dedicated to mothers, an official said here Friday.

The stern circular (READ IT HERE) ordering all schools and colleges to celebrate Valentine's Day as Mother's Day has kicked up a raging controversy in academic circles.

It was sent to hundreds of public and private primary schools and around 25 colleges in the district Feb 11, asking them to celebrate V-Day with a difference by dedicating it to mothers.
