PM Modi 'appalled' by temple in his honour

After hearing of the temple built in Rajkot in his honour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reacted, saying he was appalled by this development. I have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and against India's great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. I would urge those doing it not to do it," the PM said.

He said that instead if people had time and resources, they should devote the same to fulfilling the dream of a Clean India.The temple, which is set to be inaugurated on Sunday, has an idol of Modi, which cost Rs 1.65 lakh to build.
