A health update on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Sayeed is "presently sick requiring oxygen therapy" and his condition is being closely monitored by a team of experts, a statement by AIIMS, where he is admitted, said today. "Sayeed, who is admitted in AB 8 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since December 24, is sick, requiring oxygen therapy but hemodynamically stable," according to AIIMS authorities.

"He is conscious, alert and is taking orally. He continues to be on antibiotics, antifungal drugs and supportive therapy and is being closely monitored by a team of experts," a statement issued by the hospital said.

Sayeed (79) was flown to Delhi in a state aircraft on December 24 and admitted in a private ward in AIIMS with complaints of fever and chest pain.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh had yesterday visited him to enquire about his health and wished him speedy recovery. He had taken over as Chief Minister of a PDP-BJP alliance government in March this year.
