Juvenile Justice bill cannot be more nuanced or compassionate: Maneka
December 22, 2015  14:39
Maneka Gandhi makes an impassioned plea to the House to pass the Bill saying the UPA government had introduced the bill and the NDA government would pass it. She said nobody would remember which government had passed the bill, but that the bill had been passed. She said the crime graphs of juveniles were rising the fastest and went on to explain the nuances of the bill. She said the parents of the Delhi gang-rape victim were watching the proceedings in the hope that the bill would be passed knowing full well that it will not affect the juvenile convict who has been released. She said that they want the bill to be passed so that something as heinous does not happen to other women. She said the bill cannot be more nuanced or more compassionate.

Union minister Venkaiah Naidu reiterates that the bill will not have retrospective effect and will not effect the Nirbhaya case.
