Veteran actor Dilip Kumar who will turn 93 on December 11, will not be celebrating his birthday.

The actor tweeted: "I have decided to forego all celebrations on my birthday as I am saddened by the tragedy that has swept the lives of so many in Chennai. Saira is never in favor of celebrating my birthday. She feels the evil eye will fall and I will have health issues soon after celebrations."



Dilip Kumar's birthday last year was celebrated in his home town of Peshawar where the legendary actor spent the first 12 years of his life.

The life and achievements of Kumar, who was discharged from hospital in Mumbai today following a brief illness, were celebrated in his home town by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Cultural Heritage Council and Peshawar Press Club.
