Jimmy Carter announces he is cancer-free

Former US president Jimmy Carter has beaten brain cancer, he has revealed to hundreds of churchgoers on Sunday.

The 91-year-old told worshippers in Georgia a scan had shown the tumours had disappeared.

"He said he got a scan this week and the cancer was gone,' Jill Stuckey, a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, said. "The church, everybody here, just erupted in applause.'
