Actor Govinda reacts to the Supreme Court asking him to apologise to a fan he slapped in 2008. "The Supreme Court's order has to be abided by all, but I'm surprised that the complainant dragged on the case for so many years. I wonder if he has got some backing. The fact is I never intimidated anyone, nor did I legally challenge the man. I was just trying to teach him a lesson," the actor says.

The court said if the actor does not apologise, he will face prosecution for criminal intimidation and assault that may land him in jail for two years.

We also like watching his movies. He is a big actor. When you make a mistake you should have a heart to admit it. You should ask him (the complainant) to forgive and forget, a justices TS Thakur and V Gopala Gowda told Govindas counsel when he opposed a petition that wants the SC to revive a criminal case against the actor.

Complainant Santosh Bateshwar Ray has moved the SC against the Bombay high court judgement that quashed a trial court order summoning Govinda as an accused in the assault case. Ray had filed a private complaint before the trial court for the stars prosecution.
