10 NDRF teams head to flood ridden Tamil Nadu

Ten teams of National Disaster Relief Force have been deployed in Tamil Nadu, with 5 teams comprising 300 men about to reach the state affected by incessant rainfall.

"The NDRF is also planning to send 3 teams to Pondicherry," NDRF DG OP Singh said.

"Considering IMD forecast of heavy rain for next 4 days,trying to mobilize maximum teams to affected areas," he added.

Meanwhile, the Army Flood Relief Columns carrying out extensive flood rescue and relief ops in Tambaram and Urapakkam areas in Chennai.

A Navy rescue team was deployed in Gandhi nagar area beyond Adyar Bridge along Buckingham Canal. The area is flooded.
