Three-member government team set to visit FTII campus today

A day after the arrest drama at the Film and Television Institute of India, a team from the Centre is slated to visit the campus on Thursday. A three-member team of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is slated to go to Pune to study the situation and talk to students and authorities.

This comes after five students of the institute, who were arrested on Wednesday, were granted bail against a surety of Rs 3000, even as 12 others filed for anticipatory bail.

Meanwhile, following the release of a video where FTII director Prashant Pathrabe was seen allegedly being cornered manhandled, the students released a fresh video claiming the contrary.

Speaking to CNN-IBN about the row, noted filmmaker and former FTII chairperson Shyam Benegal disapproved of the strike, urging the students to resume their classes.

Condemning the police action inside the campus, the veteran filmmaker also offered to mediate between the authorities and the students.
