Feeling the heat: July was Earth's hottest month ever recorded

July was the hottest single month worldwide since records began in 1880, scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced.

July is typically the hottest month of the year. Much of western and central Europe was extremely hot. Austria sweltered to its hottest month ever recorded in the country's 249-year period of records. Spain had its hottest month on record, while France had its third-warmest month.
