Lawyer Janhavi Gadkar gets bail in drunk driving case

A sessions court on Wednesday granted bail to 35-year-old corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar, who was arrested for allegedly crashing her car into a taxi under the influence of alcohol and killing two persons in June.

In the early hours of June 10, an Audi driven by Gadkar rammed into a taxi, resulting in the death of two persons, including the taxi driver, on the Eastern Freeway in Mumbai. She was allegedly drunk at that time.

She had moved the sessions court after Kurla Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected her bail plea twice. Gadkar, through her lawyer, had told the court that investigation in the case was over and no purpose would be served by keeping her in jail.
