Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked Indian professionals in Germany to act as a bridge between the two countries to help pitchfork India as a global manufacturing hub, promising a conducive atmosphere for it.

"It is a win-win situation for both countries," he said while addressing the Indian community in Berlin.

"Indian professionals in Germany can become a bridge between India and Germany to realise our objective of making India a manufacturing hub," PM Modi said.

Underlining the need for a "balanced growth", he said equal emphasis has to be laid on agricultural, manufacturing and services sectors.

Citing the IT revolution, PM Modi noted that Indians had a big role to play in it.

Many of the CEOs in the Silicon Valley are of Indian origin, he said while stressing that ventures like Google could have originated from India if these professionals were assured of a good environment for innovation in India.

In candid remarks, PM Modi said, "We are Hercules in our country but when we go out we come to realise many things and we are inspired to compete and achieve greater heights."

He asserted that making India a manufacturing hub is not just an economic goal for him but also a "self-respect movement".
