Cops asked to check slums around airport over terror threat

A terror alert has been sounded by the Maharashtra state intelligence warning of an attack on the Mumbai airport. The alert was sounded following inputs that suggested that some terrorists could have taken shelter in the slums around the airport. In the wake of this alert sounded by the intelligence, the aviation ministry has written to the Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad asking them to step up security. The ministry's letter also directs the police to conduct a complete check of the slums around the airport where the terrorists could have taken shelter.
