700 shifted to camps in flood-hit East Godavari district

Nearly 700 flood-hit people in East Godavari district have been shifted to relief camps even as water level in Godavari river was receding gradually at Dowleswaram barrage.

Collector Neetu Prasad said, "696 flood-affected people have been shifted to four relief camps in the district. They are being provided with drinking water, food and other essential commodities."

Sixty-four country boats, 14 mechanised boats and two launches were pressed into service to shift the people from villages under Devipatnam, Ainavalli, P Gannavaram, Kothapeta, Mummudivaram, Skhinetipalli, Ravulapalem, Allavaram and Mammidikudur mandals to relief camps, she said.

Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa visited Appanapalli village in Mamidikuduru mandal and supervised the flood relief works, Prasad said.
