Valerie Trierweiler, the former partner of French President Francois Hollande, says he 'dislikes the poor' despite his role as a socialist politician. She made the claim in a new book she has written which details her relationship and break-up with Hollande. In her book, she adds that when she was informed of his affair with actress Julie Gayet, she tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills. She writes in her book, 'News of [Hollande's affair with actress] Julie Gayet makes the morning headlines. I crack, I cannot hear that, I rush to the bathroom. I grab the small plastic bag that contains sleeping pills. Francois followed me. He attempts to grab the bag from me. I run to the bedroom. He grasps the bag that rips open. The pills spill out onto the bed and the floor.'
