At least five people were killed during an attack by armed men on a northern town in the Central African Republic, a source in the African peacekeeping force said today. Heavily armed men believed to be ex-Seleka rebel fighters stormed Nana Bakassa, 300 kilometres north of the capital Bangui on Tuesday, an officer with the MISCA force told AFP.

"We provisionally counted five dead and others wounded" in the attack, where people were targeted on the streets and in their homes, he added on condition of anonymity.
