1984 Sikh riots: Amitabh Bachchan summoned for human right violations

The ghosts of the 1984 Sikh riots have come to claim Amitabh Bachchan. According to reports, the actor has been summoned by the Los Angeles Federal court in relation to the 1984 riots in India on charges of human rights violations.

Bachchan has been given 21 days to respond to the charges.

He has been charged with instigating violence against Sikhs in the aftermath of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards.

Bachchan has been accused of raising slogans -- 'blood for blood' -- on October 31, 1984, when Mrs Gandhi died.
