Court gives 5-year jail to Sri Lankan for working for ISI

A special court in Chennai today sentenced a Sri Lankan national Sakir Hussain, who was working on behalf of Pakistan's spy agency ISI, to five years in jail for conspiring to carry out terror strikes at the US and Israeli consulates in South India.

NIA had filed a charge sheet against Hussain and two others in October this year for being involved in circulation of fake currency and plans to carry out terror strike at the US consulate in Chennai and Israeli consulate in Bangalore. 

Hussain pleaded guilty before the designated court in Chennai, which had taken the case for framing up of charges yesterday, and admitted to charges filed against him by NIA. The court sentenced Hussain to five years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1000 under Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Act and other sections of Indian Penal Code, an official spokesman said.
