Haryana CM calls emergency meeting over Hisar clashes

Rampal, who faces arrest in a murder case, has been hiding in his "Satlok ashram" for nearly two weeks.

Rampal's supporters targeted the police with gunfire and stones as a 10-day standoff boiled over on Tuesday. Thick smoke rose from the ashram's roof amid gunshots, turning the complex in Barwala town into a warzone. Several devotees were injured as the police used batons.

Haryana CM Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar has called an emergency meet in the wake of the escalating tension. As security personnel stepped up efforts to disperse the followers, said to be in thousands inside the ashram, they faced stiff resistance.
