After resigning from the post of Goa chief minister, Avdhut Parrikar, Manohar Parrikar's brother, spoke to the media about the move. Speaking to the media Avdhut, said, "I'm having mixed feelings; on the one hand I feel proud but I also feel sad that he's going away." The emotional brother said that his brother was doing a good job for the people of Goa and that the state would miss him but that the nation came before all else.
