Manohar Parrikar resigns as Goa CM

Manohar Parrikar has faxed his resignation to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha who is not in the state. The Governor is expected to arrive in the state later in the afternoon.

Sources have said that Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will be named as the new chief minister of Goa.

The issue of Goa's next CM was discussed at the BJP parliamentary board meeting in New Delhi.

Senior BJP leader JP Nadda said after the meeting that a formal announcement on Parrikar's successor will be made at 4:00 pm.
