The guard who opened the Berlin Wall

Ordinary people often pave the way for the extraordinary. On November 9,1989, East German border guard Harald Jager opened the first Berlin Wall crossing at 11.30 pm.  Amid confusion and without clear orders from above, Jager  made the snap decision to open the barrier at Bornholmer Strasse -- but the former guard, now 71, refuses to take credit.
