Heavily armed insurgents, including suicide bombers, launched a rocket propelled grenade and gun attack on the Indian consulate in Afghanistan's western city of Herat hours before dawn on May 23. Hours within the attack, Narendra Modi, who was yet to be sworn-in as prime minister had called the ambassador offering support.
