Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi, joint secretary in the PMO, who has been appointed senior advisor to the executive director at the IMF, almost did not get the job.

For Finance Minister P Chidambaram rejected the appointment of the 1987 batch IAS officer from Jharkhand cadre.Following this the prime minister had to make three calls to PC, say sources, to have the file cleared.

Finally it was done, but not before Chidambaram's personal assistant M A Siddique was also cleared by the appointments committee of the Cabinet.
