President Pranab Mukherjee's thoughtful gesture to the Delhi media - to have a shamiana put outside the forecourt of the President's Estate where the media usually braves the scorching sun as it awaits news of government formation - is sure to win him praise.

Not just a shelter from the sun, other attractions for the press are a water filter, air coolers and pedestal fans, along with some 20 to 30 chairs. Biscuits and soft drinks will also be offered to them. The shamiana will remain in place till the swearing-in ceremony.
