Vicky Nanjappa @ Varanas: Sensing stringent action, Ajay Rai the Congress candidate from Varanasi has taken a softer stance while defending his action of wearing the Congress symbol while he voted. It was not intentional and was done unknowingly, he told reporters in Varanasi.

Earlier this morning his statement was, "I was just wearing the symbol and not showing it like Modi. I am a candidate and I have a right to wear my symbol on my heart."

This sort of a poll violation attracts a jail term of up to two years and has caused a great deal of embarrassment to the Congress. Sources say he was pulled up by top brass and hence the soft statement on the controversy.- Special observer in Varanasi, Praveen Kumar says that the footage is now being sent to Delhi. The higher ups will observe it and take a final call, he also said.
