The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that actor-politician Gul Panag and other party activists were attacked in Varanasi, where they are campaigning for party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

Panag, who contested as the AAP candidate from Chandigarh, was allegedly attacked at the city's historic Banaras Hindu University, which has been the nerve centre for campaigning in Varanasi.

Another AAP supporter, radio host Raghu Ram, tweeted, "Oh well. I just got attacked by 2 guys with lathis inside BHU! They were outsiders. The BHU boys chased them away."

Kejriwal is contesting the national election from Varanasi against Narendra Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, and the Congress' Ajay Rai.

Pic: The picture was tweeted by AAP yesterday, saying 'Team Gul Panag arrives in Varanasi'. Panag, is the AAP's Chandigarh candidate and reached the city yesterday.
