PM condemns Chennai station blasts

The Prime Minister has strongly condemned the blasts that took place in Chennai on Thursday morning.

In a statement, Dr Manmohan Singh said: "Such barbaric acts targeting innocent men, women and children only highlight the desperation and cowardice of those responsible."

"I offer sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and heartfelt sympathies to those injured. I am confident that the people of India will stand united against these attempts to disturb peace and harmony."

"I urge the people to maintain peace. No efforts should be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice."
