Two-year extension for secy who served 4 PMs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accorded a three-month extension to his secretary, R Ramanujan, an IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre of 1979 batch. Ramanujan, who was to retire on the last day of this month, has served Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Inder Kumar Gujral and H D Deve Gowda, apart from Dr Manmohan Singh.

Ramanujan is only 58 and can continue in office for two more years, but since he had given his date of birth wrongly in his school certificate, he is forced to retire now.

But unlike someone we all know, the bureaucrat does not want to fight it out since the error was made by his parents inadvertently.
