Coming soon: Gadkari's chip-friendly toll plazas
July 07, 2014  18:26
There is little doubt that union transport minister Nitin Gadkari is on a work high. He has now acquired software which will allow cars, across India, to drive through toll plazas without any wait.

Speaking to's Sheela Bhatt, Gadkari said car owners will need to buy a chip from banks or approved vendors and stick it on the windshield of the car. When the car passes through the toll plaza, money will be deducted automatically. This scheme will be implemented in three months.

Gadkari also says that he is about to issue the orders to convert the roofs of all toll plazas into solar  panels so that toll plazas can generate electricity for their own needs.
