Why Jairam Ramesh is peeved about EC's model code of conduct

Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh had a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath on the hindrances faced by his ministry during election campaigns.

Ramesh said that the model code of conduct comes in the way of developmental projects thereby hindering sanctions for roads in interior areas of many states.

He is expected to depute senior offiicials of the Ministry of Rural Development to give the details of road projects in six states.
