EC clampdown on media on poll announcement days

Our sources tell us that on the day the Election Commission is set to announce the poll schedule, there is unlikely to be TV channels in the conference hall at Nirvachan Sadan.

Doordharshan and ANI will give the feed to the news channels, since EC feels that a group of 250 or 300 TV camera crew will be difficult to handle and there are space constraints.

The EC also took policy decision to restrict the print media. There will be only one invite to each newspaper with just one photographer allowed in.

There shall be only one photographer from major newspaper will be permitted to take photos when the poll schedule is announced.
