The Election Commission has convened a conference of Chief Secretaries and Director General of Police today to review the poll preparations. VS Sampath, Chief Election Commissioner, and HS Brahma, Election Commissioner, are both from the Andhra Pradesh cadre and know too well the geography and history of the state.

When the Andhra bifurcation Bill is being discussed in Parliament, both decided to wait for the outcome and then hold assembly elections in the two states -- Seemandhra and Telangana -- once the Union Home Ministry communicates to the Election Commission.
