Centre, BJP lock horns over jurist for Lokpal panel

The Bharatiya Janata Party is opposing the Prime Minister's choice of a jurist for the panel that will select the Lokpal. The BJP is likely to take its protest to the President, reports NDTV.

In a meeting called at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence last night the government named senior Supreme Court lawyer Pavani Parameswara Rao as its choice for the post.

Rao's candidature, however, faced severe opposition from Sushma Swaraj saying that he could be a partisan.
