Bharat Ratna for scientist CNR Rao

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar today has become the first sportsperson to join the list of the nation's Bharat Ratnas today.

President Pranab Mukherjee awarded him the highest civilian honour along with noted scientist Professor CNR Rao.

At 40, Sachin has also become the youngest recipient of the Bharat Ratna.

Present at the ceremony at the Rashrtrapati Bhavan was Sachin's wife Anjali and daughter Sara.

Attending the ceremony is the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, his wife Gurusharan Kaur and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
