Mumbai police warns of strict action over child govindas
August 11, 2014  11:12
Police commissioner Rakesh Maria has said that action would be taken against govinda mandals that violate a Bombay high court order banning young children from participating in human pyramids.

He also directed all the 93 police stations to sensitize the mandals on the issue.

The HC had on Friday told the state government to urgently decide on restricting the height of human pyramids for the Janmashtami festival, saying it would save the lives of participants.

Maria's directive comes a day after Kiran Talekar, a 14-year-old Sanpada resident, allegedly died after falling from the fifth level of a human pyramid while practicing. -- The Times of India
