Chile evacuates coast as 8.2 earthquake sparks tsunami

An 8.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Chile generating a tsunami, authorities said, CNN reports.

The quake caused a small landslide, but there were no reports of deaths or major damage, Chilean Deputy Interior Minister Mahmud Aleuy told reporters.

USGS reports at least nine significant aftershocks in the wake of an 8.2-magnitude earthquake off Chile's coast.
