CBI officer who led Ishrat Jahan encounter probe retires

K Saleem Ali, special director of the CBI who headed the probe in sensitive encounter cases, including those related to the killing of Ishrat Jahan and Sadiq Jamal in Gujarat, today retired after a 35-year long police service.        

An IPS officer of the 1978 batch Manipur-Tripura cadre, Ali had joined the CBI as an additional director on September 28, 2011 and was promoted as special director of the CBI on May 24, 2012.
