Traffic on the Hyderabad- Bangalore highway was disrupted today after pro-Telangana organisations enforced a 'sadak bandh' (road blockade) in support of their separate statehood demand, even as the police clamped down on protesters.

The Telangana Joint Action Committee called for the blockade on the Hyderabad-Bangalore Highway as part of its agitation programme to mount pressure on the Centre to accept the separate Telangana demand.

Leaders and activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi), the Bharatiya Janata Party and several other pro-Telangana outfits began the blockade by squatting at various important places on the highway from today morning.
