Amardeep Sinha, Principal Secretary, Bihar government, said the state was committed to building kitchen sheds and storage rooms to ensure contamination would not happen again. However, there were at least 13,500 schools in the state that had no land where a kitchen shed could be constructed.

He also blamed the principal of the school, who has been absconding since the incident, for insisting that the cook use continue to use the contaminated oil even when the cook had said there was something wrong with it.
