A correspondent from Delhi reports: Newly-elected BJP president Rajnath Singh on Thursday slammed the statement on 'Hindu terror' made by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and demanded the latter's resignation.

He also asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to "clarify" what Shinde meant by the comment.

Singh also demanded an apology by both Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over Shinde's comment.

Shinde had made the controversial remark on the final day of the Congress Party's Chintan Shivir in Jaipur. He had accused the BJP and RSS of holding terror training camps and promoting 'Hindu terrorism' in the country.

The BJP has already threatened to hold nationwide protests from today against
Shinde's comment.

The Union home minister had refused to comment on BJP's nation-wide protests when asked about it earlier today.
