Pranab Mukherjee also said the Army was completely prepared to take on any threat to the nation. Paying tribute to the soldiers who had been martyred, he said Pakistan must desist in acts that reduce regional instability. "My government is determined to thwart any attempt to violate peace in the region," he said.

Pranab also touched upon violence in Assam, Naxal-related deaths, which he says has reduced over the last year. At least 400 police stations in Naxal-affected areas were in place, roads (critical to maintaining peace in the areas) were underway.

Peace prevails, to a large extent in J&K and the Northeast and terrorism-related deaths have fallen.
