Elaborate arrangements have been put in place by the state administration and the Railways for the third and last Shahi Snan of the Maha Kumbh on Friday in the wake of the stampede at a railway station in Allahabad.

As a gesture of condolence, akharas have decided to keep their bathing processions a low-key affair.

"We have been assured by the Railways that it will be running more than 70 special trains, other than the regular ones, in the next three days to ensure safe return journey of pilgrims coming for a holy dip in the Sangam on Basant Panchami," said Devesh Chaturvedi, divisional commissioner of Allahabad.
