The 'Xi Dada' fan club started by a Chinese migrant worker to drum up support for the ruling Communist Party's new leader, Xi Jinping has been shut down, apparently under pressure from officials.

After maintaining a mysterious profile while posting details of Xi's interactions with people during his tours, Zhang Hongming who revealed his identity three days ago in a media interview caught everyone by surprise by posting a goodbye message on his blog post.

His blog called 'Fan Club of Learning From Xi' attracted over eight lakh followers.

'Goodbye. I was happy when I came here, but I'm leaving today with deep feelings ..... Thanks to all the fans [of Xi], perhaps there is no room for us due to limited public understanding, or perhaps there is no room for us in the real world,' Hong Kong-based the South China Morning Post quoted him as saying in his blog post.
