LR Pachau, DGP Karnataka says 13 people have been injured in the bomb blast, but confirms it was a blast. Eight cops and five civilians have been injured. The precise nature of the explosives used in the blast is being probed.

There were a large number of people at the party office filing their nominations when the blast took place. Today is the last date of filing nominations. Doctors treating the injured (figures between 13 and 16) says two have fractured their legs. An NIA team is scanning the site. The Karnataka BJP spokesperson says the intensity of the blast was so strong that the entire building shook.

MoS Home RPN Singh says the home ministry is ready to help the Karnataka police, if needed. He also appealed to the people to keep calm and not spread rumours. Singh says he is "not ruling out anything right now."

The police have been saying that the bomb was placed on a motorbike. The large number of policemen injured in the blast is because there was a police van with cops on duty outside the BJP office when the blast took place. Eight cops have been injured.
